Well, at least this time it's only been a few months since my last post. I don't know if I'm any good at the blogging thing or not...I do much better at following other people's!
So far, 2011 has had a lot going on!
Dave, up until the end of June, had been teaching pretty steadily for IWU - with no more than a week or two in between classes. He hasn't had any since he finished up on June 30th; his next one won't start til Oct 25th. However, that will be a new experience - instead of English, he'll be teaching New Testament Survey. He's already been busy prepping, fixing his syllabus, quizzes, etc. We really could use another paycheck before Dec 15th, so I keep hoping he'll either somehow get a class that can fit in between now and the end of October, OR that he'll get to substitute teach a few times. That would be better than nothing.
On May 18th, he had to have a revision on his nerve stimulator, and have a new battery put in. The old one made it just over 4 years before it went 'kaput' at the beginning of April. No thanks to Kaiser, I managed to find a neurosurgeon at Metrohealth who was in the network and would do the surgery (since Kaiser no longer covered CCF). They were actually nicer and easier to work with than CCF, but it was still a hit to the pocketbook. It's going to take us at least a year to pay off the bills - and that's WITH insurance. Oh well.
The new battery is rechargeable, and good for 7-9 years..yay!
Mom turned 83 in June...wow. We had a cookout over the 4th of July weekend, and the Sapps were here while home from Beijing. That was fun to see them, and for them to meet the Konitskys, since Theresa wants to go to China as an exchange student sometime in the next couple of years.
We're having a small Labor Day cookout with Jim Walker and the Marinos, and our next door neighbors. Hopefully the weather will cooperate!
I helped at VBS this year for a few nights - taking pictures to use for the slide show and the church scrapbook. They came out fairly decent!
Went to 2 weddings in July - one for some dear friends from high school who both went through divorces about the same time, and reconnected with each other last year at our WHCS reunion. The other wedding was for a couple of Dave's "kids" from his youth group at Trinity. Can't believe everyone is so grown up already...
In October, I'm taking Mom to her 66th high school class reunion at Toccoa Falls College...it's their 100th anniversary. I'm excited - to spend that much time with Mom; to see the school she's always talked about, and see her reconnect with old friends (I hope there are some left!) and to take our new Kia Soul on a road trip! Plus there's some new, cool fall paper out by Bo Bunny that I really want to use, and I think this trip will provide the perfect photos. (I'm so addicted to scrapping, it's obvious I've got it bad, huh?)
